PPMO CoE Purpose and Mission

The Project Portfolio Management Office Center of Excellence (PPMO-CoE) delivers a strategic organizational structure designed to maximize the value derived from the IT project portfolio through shared values and frameworks, transparent and effective governance, and resource optimization. This ensures that every project delivers the intended business value and contributes significantly to the university’s goals.

The primary purpose of establishing a PPMO-CoE is to provide a consistent approach to managing projects and programs that align with WashU’s strategic objectives. The PPMO-CoE provides clear standards, shared tools, expert guidance, and governance frameworks to help practitioners deliver successful projects and help resource managers allocate capacity effectively and transparently.

The mission of the PPMO CoE is to continuously improve service and project delivery to the university using best-practice frameworks and transparent, inclusive IT governance structures.
