PgM CoP Purpose and Objectives
The IT Program Management (PgM) Community of Practice (CoP) at WashU is established to leverage the voice and experiences of people in the Program Manager or similar role to support the maturation of the practice of IT Program Management to better support and align with WashU strategy. Our CoP serves as a platform for exchanging ideas, best practices, and innovative solutions to shared challenges, thus driving excellence in IT across our institution.
The objectives of the PgM CoP include:
- Promote continuous learning and skill enhancement in IT Program Management.
- Encourage the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and expertise.
- Cultivate a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Identify, discuss, and address common IT Program Management challenges.
- Support career advancement and professional growth.
- Develop, uphold, and disseminate standards and best practices in IT.
- Promote excellence in the discipline of IT Program Management.
- Provide feedback to the PPMO Center of Excellence (CoE) Leader on program and project management standards, challenges, and opportunities.
- Capture and deliver continuous improvement to the Program Management function at WashU, including IT Governance.
PgM Cop Engagement, Meetings, and Activities
Membership is open to all WashU and affiliated professionals holding the role of IT Program Manager, senior Project Managers, similar roles or those aspiring to this role, including faculty, students, IT support staff, and IT managers. Active participation in meetings, discussions, and activities is strongly encouraged to enrich the community’s experience.
Regular meetings will be conducted, supplemented by additional meetings and events as required. These will feature presentations, workshops, and open discussions on pertinent IT topics. Accurate records of each meeting will be maintained and shared among members.
The IT PgM CoP will organize various activities, including, but not limited to:
- Presentations by subject matter experts and guest speakers
- Knowledge-sharing sessions
- Review and provide feedback on Program and Project Management related standards, processes, and templates
- Networking events
- Relevant training sessions offered or highlighted by WashU; such as Roundtables or similar
