PM CoE Purpose and Objectives

The IT Project Management Community of Practice (PM CoP) at WashU has been established to foster a collaborative environment conducive to knowledge sharing and professional development among project management professionals. Our CoP serves as a platform for exchanging ideas, best practices, and innovative solutions to shared challenges, thus driving excellence in project management across our institution.

The objectives of the PM CoP include:

  • Promote continuous learning and skill enhancement in Project Management.
  • Encourage the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and expertise. 
  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Identify, discuss, and address common project management challenges.
  • Support career advancement and professional growth.
  • Develop, uphold, and disseminate standards and best practices in project management.
  • Provide feedback to the PPMO Center of Excellence (CoE) Leader on project management standards, challenges, and opportunities.

PM CoP Engagement, Meetings, and Activities

The PM CoP is open to WashU Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Business Analysts, Leadership, and anyone else involved in projects who want to learn more about Project Management. Active participation in meetings, discussions, and activities is strongly encouraged to enrich the community experience

Bi-monthly meetings will be conducted, supplemented by additional meetings and events as required. These will feature presentations, workshops, and open discussions on pertinent project management topics. Accurate records of each meeting will be maintained and shared among members.

The IT PM CoP will organize various activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Presentations by guest speakers
  • Knowledge-sharing sessions and case studies
  • Share project management best practices
  • Networking events
  • Support PPMO CoE Open Office hours
  • Platform to gather feedback from other PMs
