PPMO Center of Excellence launches new resources for project delivery across WashU IT

As part of the WashU IT Operating Model, WashU IT is proud to introduce the Project Portfolio Management Office Center of Excellence (PPMO CoE) . The goal is to maximize the value of IT projects through shared values and frameworks, transparent and effective governance, and resource optimization. This ensures that every project delivers the intended business value and contributes significantly to the university’s goals. 

Explore the new PPMO CoE resources to quickly find the right guidance, access tools and templates in one place, and connect with communities of practice that support project work. 

Whether a project manager, business analyst, program manager, team lead or holding another role, employees occasionally find themselves leading project work. Finding the right resources at the right time can be a challenge. The PPMO CoE was established to address that challenge by providing a consistent approach to managing projects and programs that align with WashU’s strategic objectives.  

The PPMO-CoE provides clear standards, shared tools, expert guidance and governance frameworks to help practitioners quickly find the right guidance, reduce duplication of effort, support more consistent delivery and help resource managers allocate capacity effectively and transparently. 

To support the launch, two new resources are now available: 

• PPMO CoE IT webpage: Provides a broad overview of the CoE’s mission, services, governance approach, and engagement model. 

• PPMO CoE SharePoint site: Serves as the working hub where practitioners can access tools and templates in one place, find guidance, training, resources, and connect with communities of practice. 

This launch is just the beginning. Future enhancements include expanding training resources, establishing CoE success metrics, transitioning the PM and BA Guides to SharePoint for broader accessibility, supporting the ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) implementation and developing guidance around project value measurement and benefits realization. 

The PPMO CoE team welcomes feedback as these resources continue to evolve. Team members are encouraged to explore the site, review available resources and share suggestions for additional content, tools, training opportunities, or improvements.
