WashU IT took the stage last week at the annual Researcher Forum and Expo, hosted by the Research Education and Information department. The event placed the spotlight on the tools, services and collaborations that advance research excellence across WashU, and WashU IT came ready to connect with the people driving that work.

Throughout the day, members of the WashU IT team delivered multiple presentations on the technology services and resources that help researchers succeed. At the WashU IT booth, researchers got answers to their questions, joined the conversation and got a first look at two new tools: the storage finder and the Research Infrastructure Services (RIS) cost calculator.

Amy Walter, deputy CIO and associate vice chancellor for clinical, research and medical education technologies; Brian Allen, associate chief information security officer for research, teaching and learning; and Josh Edwards, executive director of enterprise AI and architecture, spoke to a full house. They covered why researchers should engage with RIS, where AI tools for research stand today and where they’re headed, and the safeguards that protect research data.

“We were honored to be invited to share at this important event,” Walter said. “The audience asked great questions, and we’re committed to helping WashU researchers find the IT resources that will best equip them for their projects.”

Later in the afternoon, Craig Pohl, executive director of Research Infrastructure Services, offered a deeper look at RIS and everything it offers researchers.

WashU researchers are working on projects that will make a remarkable impact at home and around the world. WashU IT is proud to provide the technology that helps them get there.
