Washington University in St. Louis has launched its 2026 United Way Campaign, continuing the university’s annual effort to support the St. Louis region through United Way of Greater St. Louis.
United Way of Greater St. Louis serves more than 1 million people, which is about 1 in 3 residents living in 16 counties in Missouri and Illinois, according to the organization. An estimated 43% of households in the region struggle to meet essential needs such as housing, utilities, food, transportation and medical care.
United Way works with more than 160 nonprofit agencies to provide services including food and housing assistance, education and mentoring programs, mental health and crisis services, and workforce development and financial stability support.
Contributions made through WashU’s campaign are combined with gifts from employees across the university to support that network of agencies. Organizers said donations of any size contribute to the campaign’s overall impact.
Employees can donate to the 2026 United Way Campaign through the university’s donation portal. Those interested in learning more about how their contributions are used can review the full list of nonprofit agencies supported through United Way.
Employees looking for additional ways to get involved can also participate in WashU Serves, the university’s year-round volunteer initiative developed in partnership with United Way. The program offers volunteer opportunities for individuals, colleagues and teams throughout the year.
