WashU IT Platform Engineering is moving forward with a planned migration from VMware hypervisors to Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisors in the Private Cloud, reinforcing the department’s commitment to delivering affordable, reliable virtual server services for the university.

Initial testing has been completed successfully, and migration work is now underway. The transition is being managed carefully to minimize disruption, with service interruptions expected to be brief. Scheduling will be coordinated closely with server owners to respect operational needs and help ensure a smooth transition.

The migration is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2027

This effort aligns with the strategic goals of Washington University and WashU IT, supporting a sustainable private cloud environment that continues to meet the needs of the university community.
