SharePoint is part of the university’s Microsoft 365 environment and is available to all faculty, staff and students. It provides a secure place for departments, teams, projects and campus groups to store files, share information, publish news, and collaborate within a team or across the university.
A refreshed SharePoint experience is expected to begin rolling out across university SharePoint sites in late July, with updates appearing gradually. Updates include an app bar that will provide a more consistent way for users to navigate SharePoint and locate relevant sites, files, news and shared resources. Some AI-assisted features may appear as part of this experience. Access to those AI-powered capabilities depends on the appropriate Microsoft 365 Copilot licensing.
The refreshed experience highlights three main areas:
- Discover provides a refreshed starting point for finding relevant sites, content, and news across SharePoint.
- Publish brings together page, news and campaign-style communication tools in one area for creating and managing SharePoint communications.
- Build provides a central place for creating and managing SharePoint lists, libraries and related solutions.
- OneDrive enables quick access to personal and shared files.
Additional updates
The refreshed experience also includes updated page, news, library and list experiences, along with neutral theming across SharePoint product surfaces. Existing site-level branding remains unchanged.
