WashU Connect serves as the primary authentication system for Washington University in St. Louis, enabling students, faculty, staff, and alumni to access IT-managed applications. The fundamental components managed by WashU Connect include the WashU Key and WashU 2FA.

The WashU Key serves as a personal authentication credential, comprised of a user-selected login ID and password.

WashU 2FA is a multi-factor authentication method that ensures the individual logging into a WashU account with the WashU Key is the authorized user. It is a second layer of defense against unauthorized logins to any WashU Key-enabled service.
