The topic of the August Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) Roundtable is Service Configuration Management and the Configuration Management Database; an important ITSM practice focused on identifying, tracking, and maintaining accurate information about the configuration items that make up our IT services and the relationships between them. The next session will be held on Friday, August 28th, at 2:00 p.m. CST.

New invitations from Teams were sent on June 30th and should be on everyone’s calendar. During this session, attendees will be introduced to the fundamentals of Service Configuration Management and the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and share how WashU is using the practice to build a trusted, single source of truth about its IT environment. By documenting configuration items, mapping service dependencies, and keeping that data accurate over time, Service Configuration Management supports faster incident diagnosis, better-informed change decisions, and greater confidence in the services we deliver.

Whether you’re involved in service delivery, operations, support, or simply interested in improving how IT services are managed across WashU, we invite you to join the discussion and learn how Service Configuration Management and the CMDB contribute to more transparent, well-understood, and resilient services.
